ahhh the colosseum...this was incredible. just the sheer size of the colosseum is spectacular. the height is probably the most impressive aspect. we started by walking around the first level of the building it was neat to look down into the now exposed floor of the colosseum that shows all the underground passages. at the second level you can get to see the crumbling stairways that would have once led up to the stadium seats. being inside the colosseum is one of the most incredible experiences, it's awe-inspiring to know how old the colosseum is. i was speechless at being able to stand where the ancient romans once stood and be able to feel connected to something so historic and monumental. this was one of my favorite places that we were able to visit and it may seem cliche to some, but you really have to go there, stand amongst the ruins, feel the warm italian summer breeze, and let yourself get lost in the history.
