gaudi's other contribution to the city of barcelona is a huge city park called guell park. it's like disneyland; a whimsical array of arched and bridged walkways with a huge open area lined with a mosaic bench. we ate lunch in the park as we listened to two young people, one singing with the other accompanied her on his guitar. the official entrance to the park(which we did not find until later) is amazing, completely original and this grand whimsical and of course mosaic covered which allows it to catch the light beautifully. the two smaller buildings that flank the entrance way are these adobe like houses with mosaics and curves and interesting minarets. gaudi's designs are so unusual that you cant help but stand there in awe. you could spend a whole day exploring the intricate network created by the paths and arched passageways in the park. the landscaping inside the park is just as colorful as the mosaics themselves with incredibly lush trees and shrubs and all kinds of flowers blooming. i've never seen such a place in my life, this park is truly one of a kind. i think anyone who travels there(as they should if in barcelona) would agree.
